Christina Applegate would be a cool mum, right? Wrong, so wrong.
She’s been a dancer all her life, and now that her three-and-a-half year old daughter Sadie has started dance classes, Christina Applegate couldn’t be more thrilled.
Until she realised…she’d become a typical dance mum.
Sometimes I’ll find myself watching her in class, and I’m like, ‘Oh my God, you’re so being a dance mom’. I’m sitting [there] in my head going, ‘Why isn’t she pointing her foot that way?! Someone needs to go in there and fix her foot!
Christina, 42, made the confession at PEOPLE magazine’s Fourth Annual Celebration of Dance gala.
But she says she just can't help but watch her daughter critically, and want to correct her. Christina also stars as a judge on US So You Think You Can Dance where she is encouraged to dish out the harsh comments.
She says dancing was always part of her.
It was my secret thing I did that nobody knew I did. I could go to classes and not have anyone bother me. And I did it for years up until I got pregnant with my daughter. I now have to live vicariously through my daughter. I watch her and help her speak through her body...channel her emotions and her joy through her body.
And while she does her best to give her daughter space while dancing, she knows she sometimes crosses the line.
I was stretching her pointe today. I was like, ‘Let me stretch your pointe a little bit, Sades. Not for any particular reason — just giving you a little massage.’ I tricked her!
Sadie not only has a creative mum, but her dad is musician Martyn LeNoble. Christina and Martyn have been together since 2009 and married in 2013. Christina recently left TV series Up All Night and her most recent movie was Anchorman 2.
