The Bachelor's Richie says he's not ready for marriage. Despite going on 'The Bachelor'.

Richie Strahan, 30, is just about to embark (yet again) on a quest for the great love of his life, much to the delight of his female fans that watch The Bachelor. But unlike his American counterpart (who just proposed to his girlfriend of five minutes during the finale of the show), Richie isn’t looking to propose.

Say, what?

Sitting down with Who magazine, Richie admitted “Engagement is a pretty big deal” and “I don’t just dive into something that willy-nilly. I need to travel and live with this person first.”

Can’t wait to start this adventure as The Bachelor! I hope to meet someone amazing. This will be a wild experience, get excited! #TheBachelorAU

Does that make perfect sense in a world where divorce is on the rise? Absolutely. Does it make sense on a show that ultimately demands a gallant gesture during the grand finale, intertwining two ~~almost~~ strangers for life? No.

Richie, I think what you were looking for, other than a reality TV show, is in fact your local bar.

Our Bachelor’s good mate and winner of Sam Frost’s heart Sasha Mielczarek, 30, is also not backing Richie to walk down the aisle.

“I’d put money on it that he won’t [propose]. Like myself, you go into these shows with the intention of meeting someone, and you’re not living real life,” Sasha said.

He also mentioned that engagement hadn’t exactly worked out for Blake Garvey and Sam Frost to start with… probably with a smug grin on his face.

“You have to make sure you’re compatible with them on a number of fronts and go through the natural progression of a relationship,” he added.

Sasha also gave us a hint as to what ol’ buddy cool bananas would be looking for in a partner.

“He’ll want a well-rounded, down-to-earth, family oriented kind of girl,” he said. “Very similar to Sam, actually. He’ll be looking for someone similar to her, not someone who is into their 15 minutes of fame.”

So basically, Richie would date Sam if Sasha wasn’t in the picture.

Awkward.
