It's official: The top 5 mascaras of all time, ranked by You Beauty.

You know the feeling. When you find THAT mascara. Ooft. What a time. Because while there are many, many different formulas out there, it can be awfully tricky to find ‘The One’. 

And it's not that our criteria is too crazy or extensive - nah. All we're really asking for is something that will volumise, plump and lengthen lashes without being b**tchy, flaky and clumpy.

Because you have better things to do than spend money on shitty products, we asked You Beauty's Instagram followers for their all-time favourite mascaras.

And guess what? They told us! Suckers.

5. Hourglass Unlocked Instant Extensions, $43.

Tubular mascara fan? You'll love this guy. You will! You really will. It's the kind of mascara that will give you lift, length and that lovely clean and polished look without all the other BS - smudginess, flakiness, etc.

GENIUS.

Side note: The packaging feels weight-y and luxe and makes you feel fancy.

4. Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara, $40.

Please don't even try to pretend you haven't heard of Too Faced Better Than Sex, because you are almost certainly lying to our face. EVERYONE who has eyes knows about this mascara - it's a cult fave. And for good reason.

It's one of those foolproof formulas that just make your face look ✨better✨. 

Terrifically buildable, it really delivers on the length and volume front and will almost certainly fool people into thinking you're wearing false lashes. Which is the dream, really.

3. Kevyn Aucoin The Volume Mascara, $42.

Comin' in at number three is this tubing mascara from Kevyn Aucoin. It seamlessly coats your lashes without clumping and is also super easy to remove - which is honestly very kind. No rubbing. No tugging. No swearing.

Bonus points for nice packaging.

2. Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara, $21.95.

Very. Into. This. Have you tried it? Goodness, she's good. But then again - you can never really go wrong with a Maybelline mascara.

It makes your lashes look defined and lush while giving a little extra curling effect. It's also waterproof, so while it lengthens your lashes, you won't get any annoying smudges or marks on your brow bone - which is ideal, really.

Surprise! Number one is this affordable AF formula you can pick up at Woolies. How bloody good is that?! 

Absolutely everyone brags about this mascara. Like, it was the number one best-selling mascara in Woolworths in 2020. And we can totally understand why. It's just a damn good mascara.

This clever formula that does all the right things for your lashes - making them look longer without clumping. 

Plus, it's cheap as chips (you can usually grab it on sale for like, ten bucks). 11/10.
