What Beyonce just did at Coachella will make every 90s girl scream.

“Y’all ready Coachella?” Beyonce asked the crowd as the first woman of colour to headline the festival in its history.

She stormed the stage, ran straight into a rendition of Run The World (Girls), Crazy in Love and Lift Every Voice and Sing and invited Jay-Z to join.

And then? Well and then, Beyonce, Queen of the festival and maybe, too, the world, introduced Destiny’s Child some two decades after they first formed.

Throngs of screaming fans – both at the festival and on Twitter – had been waiting more than a year for Beyonce to headline the Coachella stage, and more than 10 for the band to reunite.

And reunite they did:

Oh, and then after two hours on stage and two guest performances, she brought sister Solange on to perform, too.

The singer was due to take the Coachella stage last year, falling pregnant with twins Rumi and Sir some months after she was announced as the headline act.

We imagine it was every bit worth waiting for.

Beyonce and Jay Z called their twins Sir and Rumi. Hip, or way too out there? The Mamamia Out Loud team discuss.
