Australian fashion designer apologises for Charlotte Dawson memorial mistake.

Veteran Australian fashion designer Carla Zampatti has issued an apology for using a photo of a grieving Terry Bivano at Charlotte Dawson’s memorial to promote an $849 black jumpsuit.

The photo, which Bivano was tagged in, appeared on Carla Zampatti’s Instagram account yesterday with the caption: “Black, sleek & chic all over, #terrybiviano is snapped stylishly wearing out Raven Crepe Jumpsuit @minichiello001.”

It has since been deleted.

A spokesperson for the brand said: “This photo was innocently regrammed without us being aware of where it was taken. It was removed as soon as it was brought to our attention. We regret any distress this may have caused,” the source told Mail Online.

Interestingly, another ‘regrammed’ photo of the Raven Crepe jumpsuit appears on the brand’s Instagram account. The shot posted six weeks ago credits the photo as a regram and has tagged the account where it came from.

The event remarkably parallels another PR stunt by an international fashion label using an image of a grieving celebrity to promote their brand. Valentino used an unauthorised photo of Amy Adams carrying their Garavany Rockstud Duble bag when she attended Philip Seymour Hoffman’s wake in February.
