The Spill: Sunday's best entertainment and gossip news.

1. Inside the rumour that Carrie Bickmore’s been poached by Nine to host Today with Karl Stefanovic.

For the past ten years, Carrie Bickmore has presented our nightly dose of news on Chanel 10’s The Project, but now there’s a rumour going around that Carrie could be moving to Chanel Nine.

An article published by The Daily Telegraph claimed Channel Nine had offered Carrie $1.5 million to co-host the Today show alongside Karl Stefanovic, who was previously axed in 2018.

“Despite Karl’s patchy history he is still seen as a star who can draw an audience. And Carrie is undoubtedly seen as a legitimate star of the future,” an inside source apparently told the publication.

“The question is whether [Nine] can align the planets and pull this deal off.”

The source, who conveniently asked not to be named, said Carrie believes it’s time to move on from The Project and “step up into the big leagues.”

But Nine’s new boss, Darren Wick, was quick to shut down the rumours.

“Nine has not approached, and does not intend to approach, Carrie Bickmore or her representatives about joining Nine as a host of the Today Show, nor in any other role,” said Wick, in a statement to Daily Mail Australia.

“Carrie is an outstanding broadcaster and an inspirational person. She’s terrific. But she does not factor in our plans for the future.”

So there’s no need to worry Project fans, Carrie seems to be staying put on The Project’s news desk.

2. A month after they went public with their romance, Miley Cyrus and Kaitlynn Carter have reportedly split.

Well that was quick. Just one month after Miley was seen kissing Kaitlynn Carter on a holiday in Italy, the couple have reportedly called things off.

A source told People, “Miley and Kaitlynn broke up.”

“They’re still friends. They’ve been friends forever and were there for each other when they were both getting separated, but they’re just not in a romantic relationship anymore,” they added.

Earlier this month, a source told the same publication that Cyrus and Carter were happy living together. “Miley is doing great. She is moving on. She seems to have no regrets. She loves being with Kaitlynn.”

The source also said the couple had a very close bond, having both been through break ups with their respective long-term partners, Liam Hemsworth and Brody Jenner.

While neither Cyrus or Carter have confirmed or denied the break up, we do know the pair just celebrated Carter’s 31st birthday together.

3. “It’s just very sad.” Steve Irwin’s sister on her family’s estrangement from Terri, Bindi and Robert.

The older sister of the late Steve Irwin, Joy Muscillo, has spoken about her family's rift since she left Australia Zoo.

"I keep away from all that," she told Daily Mail Australia on Sunday. "It's just very sad... family stuff."

The publication reports that Joy is estranged from Terri, Bindi and Robert Irwin.

Her comments come after her father, Bob Irwin, told The Courier Mail earlier this month that neither he nor his wife, Judy, have been invited to Bindi Irwin's wedding to her boyfriend Chandler Powell. In fact, he revealed, he hasn't seen his grandchildren in over a decade.

However Bob Irwin Sr was adamant that there is no family feud between him and his son’s family – Terri, Bindi, and 15-year-old Robert.

“Although a lot of untruths and rubbish and absolute garbage have been written by scumbags in the past, you reach a point where you’ve had enough. It’s important everybody knows the truth, not just Bob and Bindi,” he told the publication.

“No, I haven’t had an invite to the wedding and, to be perfectly honest, I wouldn’t expect to be invited to the wedding.

According to Getty records, Bob was last publicly seen with the Irwin family in 2007 at the Steve Irwin Memorial Day at Australia Zoo, the year after Steve’s death. Speculation of a family rift then began in 2008 when Bob resigned from Australia Zoo, due to differences in opinion when it came to operating the attraction.

5. In 2017, Australia watched Sophie Monk search for love on The Bachelorette. Now she's found 'the one'.

It’s been two years since Australia watched Sophie Monk on her 2017 season of The Bachelorette.

The nation had high hopes for the loveable, self-described bogan from the Gold Coast we first met as a part of the girl group Bardot on Popstars way back in 2000.

Aussies loved watching the Hollywood actress search for love on national TV. The 39-year-old’s season gave us so many golden moments, from the great ‘pissing in the pot plant debacle’ to seeing runner up Jarrod Woodgate struggle to walk through sand after being told he didn’t have Monk’s heart.

But when Monk and her series winner Stu Laundy announced their breakup in January 2018, less than four months after The Bachelorette finale aired, we couldn’t help but feel disappointed after being so invested in her reality TV dating journey.

Despite things not working out the way she thought they would, Monk says she knows she’s found “the one” in her current partner, Joshua Gross.

“I know this is the one. If he’s out, I give up, I really do,” the Love Island Australia host said in an exclusive interview with Stellar on Sunday.

“He’s everything I want in a person and more… I don’t think you could invent a better person for me. I’ve gone for something completely opposite to what I’ve ever gone for.
