Attn interviewers: Never try to joke around with Cate Blanchett. She will end you.

Well, that was awkward.

Cate Blanchett – a very famous actress, by all accounts a very wonderful woman and very new mother – doesn’t like interviewers who horse around.

We know this because she was interviewed by Channel 10’s Johnathan Hyla for The Project, and she did not take kindly to Hyla’s whacky interview style.

First, Hyla tried to break the ice by mentioning beer. Blanchett’s response? “I don’t drink beer.”

After incredible awkwardness, the interview tried to start over. That’s when Hyla said, “Were you able to get that cat [in the film] to do what you wanted to do on a leash? I tried it with my girlfriend’s cat, and I couldn’t.”

Blanchett’s reaction can only be described as a mix of ‘Are you fucking kidding me?’ and ‘I can’t tell if this is a joke or not.’

She looks at him – looks back at her publicist – looks at him again. And then she just goes, “That’s your question? That’s your fucking question?”

Boom. End of interview.

Interviewers, take note – don’t try to joke around with Cate Blanchett. She’s not going to stand for it.
