Finally, some much deserved happy news for the Morcombe family.

Bradley Morcombe, the twin bother of Daniel Morcombe (the Queensland boy who was abducted and murdered in 2003) married his high-school sweetheart yesterday. The 24-year-old fencer wed Anna Martin, 25, in a private ceremony on the Sunshine Coast.

Today, the family released this happy photo to the public via the Daniel Morcombe Foundation website:

via The Morcombe Foundation Facebook.

Bradley Morcombe chose his elder brother Dean to be the best man. The brothers wore photographs of their brother Daniel that were attached to red roses – the colour of the Daniel Morcombe FoundationThe foundation, run by parents Bruce and Denise Morcombe, aims to improve child safety following the disappearance and murder of their son Daniel in 2003.

The picture of Daniel Morcombe that will be was worn by his brother on his wedding day.

Daniel went missing waiting for a bus whilst on his way to go Christmas shopping in December 2003. He was only 13-years-old. What followed was years of investigations into the disappearance of Daniel. His family holding out hope that they would find him alive.

In 2013 it was alleged that Brett Peter Cowan had abducted and killed Daniel. And in April of 2014, Cowan was found guilty of murdering Daniel, along with indecent treatment of a child and interference with a corpse. The Morcombe family finally had justice for their son, 11 years after he first went missing.

Speaking to Queensland’s the Courier Mail the day before his wedding, Bradley said that “Daniel will be watching from heaven, watching over the day, that’s for sure.”

Congratulations to Bradley and Anna, it’s wonderful to finally see some happy news for a family that has been hurting for far too long.
