Delta Goodrem: "I can't wait to be a mum."

Delta Goodrem — singer, mentor, and an utterly delightful woman — has spoken honestly about her burning desire to be a mother.

Talking to TV Week, she said that starting a family is something she hopes will happen one day.

“Absolutely! I’d love to have a family,” Goodrem said. “But, if it’s meant to be, then one day it will.”

Having kids hadn’t always been on the forefront of the 31-year-old’s mind, but with her brother, Trent, having a baby it has changed things.

“I cried my eyes out when I found out they [Trent and his wife] were having a baby.

“He gave me a surprise card with this cute little message. I burst into tears when I read it.”

Goodrem has already begun a list of all the wonderful things she hopes to do with her future niece/nephew. Unfortunately, Trent doesn’t seem all that keen on it.

“He’s literally been writing a list of things I’m not allowed to do. Because I’m like, ‘I can’t wait to go and get babyccinos, and we’ll go and do this and that’. And, my brother’s like, ‘No’.”

The singer is aunty to many of her friend’s babies as well, and as we can imagine, they are in love with her.

“A lot of my best friends have children. I’m Aunty Dee to all their kids. But, I’m just the fun, crazy aunty at this point.”

Goodrem also talked about how turning 30 completely changed her outlook on life, and in the literal sense, she grew up.

“Turning 30 was one of my most favourite moments of my entire life,” she says. “It’s as if a layer of skin just drops and you go, ‘It’s not my 20s anymore – I don’t have time to waste’.

“You kind of just go, ‘This is who I am and my heart’s in the right place’. You get past the illusions of perceiving what you’re meant to be in life. You go, ‘This is where I am in life right now,’ and you embrace it.

“Right now, I’m very happy enjoying feeling empowered in myself and enjoying my alone time and having a glass of wine with my friends. I’m a really happy person in my own space.”
