This is Joey. That fake number you give out belongs to him.

Giving out a fake number to a persistent guy is an easy “out” for most girls and let’s be honest, we’ve all done it. Just make sure the fake number you are handing out doesn’t actually belong to someone.

Especially if that someone is a cheeky Melbourne lad who decides to have a bit of fun.

Joey Royle started receiving texts from guys looking for an girl called Elsie. At first he’d put them swiftly out of their misery, explaining that Elsie had obviously given them a fake number.

However one guy didn’t want to accept the truth and kept on trying to contact Elsie via Joey. So Joey decided to play matchmaker from hell.

MM Confessions: The biggest lie I’ve told my partner. Article continues after this video.

He began by posing the question, “It’s the age old riddle. What do you do when a girl in Melbourne is giving out your number as her random fake number when she’s rejecting?”

It’s the age old riddle. What do you do when a girl in Melbourne is giving out your number as her random fake number when she’s rejecting sleazy dudes? Do you a) clear up the misunderstanding, or b) #becomeElsie and organise a date.

He told the LAD Bible that the text messages continued to come through from one guy in particular who didn’t take ‘I’m actually a guy and you’ve been given a fake number‘, for an answer.

Joey decided that this particular bloke deserved to be given the run-around and that’s exactly what he ended up doing, all over Melbourne, from a romantic gelato bar to saying “Hi” to the wrong girl on the street.

He almost twigged, didn't he, when he rang and heard Joey's voice mail message, but he was quickly sucked back in.

Almost feel sorry for the guy.

Joey says has never met Elsie, as she lives in a different state, and he can probably expect more text messages from rejected men in the future.
