FLUFF: The fake fragrance ad that's going viral

1. Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine now has something in common with Britney Spears and Kylie Minogue: he’s released his own fragrance.

The cologne, titled 222, is available through American retailer Macy’s. And it’s a little awkward, because in 2011 Levine tweeted: “I also would like to put an official ban on celebrity fragrances. Punishable by death from this point forward.”

Well. A lot can happen in a year or two.

Fan art gets creepy

“I wanted to do something understated and elegant… I like basic fragrances,” says Levine.

“And there’s an intimacy level that you have to think about. You don’t really want someone to smell you unless they’re really close to you.” Unfortunately peak hour on public transport doesn’t really give you a choice there, Adam.

Fans are willing to forgive him for this hypocrisy, even creating their own mock-up advertisements for the fragrance. This picture combines a quite naked Levine from a 2011 issue of US Cosmopolitan, photoshopped over the perfume cologne bottles. Tasteful, no?

The image has, of course, gone viral.

3. Rihanna was injured on her way out of a club last Saturday night – but not for the reason you’d expect.

Rihanna with her nightclub wound (you might need to squint)

She was hit by a bottle of Lucozade. No joke.

The 24-year-old was reportedly leaving The Box nightclub in London when a man yelled something about the 24-year-old’s reunion with Chris Brown and the threw the energy drink at her.

(Presumably he threw the bottle to make a point, but perhaps he just figured she was thirsty?)

This caused Rihanna to stumble onto a grate, grazing her knee.

Although she got up, cleaned off the blood and kept on partying, her bodyguard was reportedly taken to hospital with injuries.

Somebody needs to give that man a pay rise – or at least cast him in the sequel to The Bodyguard.

5. Australian singer and actress Olivia Newton-John has opened up about her experience with depression.

In an interview with The Times in the UK, the Grease star revealed she relied on anti-depressants to help her deal with the mysterious disappearance of her former partner, Patrick McDermott, in 2005. He vanished during a fishing trip off the California coast.

“I took them until I could see the light again and never did them again. I didn’t want to become dependent on them. That’s why I stopped,” she said.

Newton-John, 64, also sought therapy during other difficult moments in her life, including her diagnosis with breast cancer in 1992 and her first divorce in 1995.

“I needed it. It gives you the [strength] to help you heal and deal with things.”

7. Rob Mills has denied rumours of a behind-the-scenes romance on the latest series of Celebrity Apprentice.

But Mills insists there’s nothing suss going on. Really.

“I think because we’re spending so much time together in such close quarters that it’s easy for talk to start,” he told the Daily Telegraph.

“I try not to date people that I work with.”

Wise words, Rob. But remember, this is a reality TV show and a competition – a little fling might be a good strategic move. Just saying.

9. The next big trend: wearing underwear on your face.

Well, that’s what a newly released book in Japan (surprised?) seems to imply. The book features girls in school uniforms going about their everyday lives – the only exception being, they are wearing underwear masks.

There are girls singing karaoke, studying maths and taking a dip in the swimming pool (still fully clothed), all while wearing underwear on their faces. Clean underwear, we choose to believe.

It’s a bit unclear whether this is a ‘joke fetish thing’ or a ‘real fetish thing’, but in any case – we doubt that this is a trend we’re likely to see transitioning into the real world anytime soon.
