We finally know the Game of Thrones Season 8 release date... and we're not happy about it.

Ever since that incredible season 7 finale, there’s only one thing Game of Thrones fans can talk about: when, oh when, is season 8 coming to our screens?

This week, GOT actress Sophie Turner shared the answer… and left a lot of people very disappointed.

In an interview with Variety this week, Turner said the Game of Thrones season 8 release is taking its goddamn time, with the expected date sometime in 2019.

No, you are not mistaken. That is the year after next.

“We started in October, so we’re maybe like a tenth of the way through,” Turner joked. “No, no we’ve got six or seven months left. Game of Thrones comes in 2019.”

Worse, showrunners Dan Weiss and David Benioff have already confirmed that the upcoming season will only contain six episodes (although they will be almost movie-length at 80 minutes each).

Speaking to Variety, Turner also shared the emotional rollercoaster involved in the production of the final season.

“When we all had the read-through for the final season, it was very, very emotional,” she said. “For the first time in ‘Thrones’ history, we had everyone there. All of the Americans wanted to come over. Every single cast member was pretty much there.”

That image is almost heartwarming enough to take the sting out of the news that we’ll be waiting at least another year to learn the fate of Sansa and the rest of the cast.

Almost.

But not quite.
