Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady's chef reveals what she eats (or more accurately, doesn't eat).

Model Gisele Bündchen and her very famous American Footballer husband Tom Brady have a personal chef. That chef has recently spilled the beans (chef puns!) about what the famous couple and their two young, moderately famous children eat.

The family’s private chef, Allen Campbell, told Boston.com he favours a “plant-based diet” for the family. It’s reminiscent of a paleo-inspired “I Quit Sugar” style menu, with a healthy dose of “I don’t eat gluten!” thrown in for good measure.

For this reason, their diet can roughly be divided into three categories: foods they can eat, foods they can’t eat and “treat” foods (term used very, very loosely).

The “foods they can eat” category is fairly lean on variety. Campbell explains the family only have:

  • “The freshest vegetables” (Campbell boasts that “If it’s not organic, I don’t use it”)
  • Whole grains (“brown rice, quinoa, millet, beans”)
  • Lean meats (“grass-fed organic steak, duck every now and then, and chicken. As for fish, I mostly cook wild salmon”)

The “foods they can’t eat” category on the other hand is a tad more expansive:

  • Sugar (Quote Campbell, “Sugar is the death of people”)
  • White Flour
  • MSG
  • Olive Oil
  • Canola Oil
  • Iodized Salt
  • Caffeine
  • Dairy
  • Fungus
  • Gluten
  • Nightshades. (A nightshade may include “tomatoes, peppers, mushrooms, or eggplants,” according to Campbell)

If you’re feeling that this is a little restrictive, fear not. We still have the “treat” foods category! Campbell explained he likes to feed the family:

  • A quinoa dish with wilted greens. Campbell explained that “I use kale or Swiss chard or beet greens. I add garlic, toasted in coconut oil. And then some toasted almonds, or this cashew sauce with lime curry, lemongrass, and a little bit of ginger. That’s just comfort food for them.”

When I picture comfort food I generally imagine myself bathing in a pool of cheesy nachos with extra sour cream but if quinoa and wilted anything works for you, knock yourself out.

For everyone else, I have a jar of Nutella with your personalised name on it. Happy New Year to all.
