Dame Judi Dench has spoken about finding love again following the death of her husband in 2001.

In an interview with The Times over the weekend Dench thought she would never find love again after her husband of 30 years Michael Williams died of lung cancer.

The idea of falling for another person never occurred to her “for a single second”.

She thought she was done.

But in 2010 she met Farmer and conservationist David Mills.

“I wasn’t even prepared to be ready for it… It was very gradual and grown up. We got together, in a way, through the animals… [And now] It’s just wonderful” she said.

When asked if the couple plan to live together Dench said:  "We are much too independent. And he is very busy. He has a business to run."

"But he is so lovely, with a great sense of humour. Now it's absolutely wonderful because there's somebody who makes me laugh. Isn't it lovely?"

Yes it is lovely.

Dench, who turned 80 yesterday plans to continue acting until she is no longer capable.

"It drives me absolutely spare when people say: 'Are you going to retire?' or 'Don't you think it's time you put your feet up?' or tell me my age, "I don't want to be told that I'm too old to do something. I want to try it first and then, if I don't succeed, then I can be told I can't do it."

Well said Judi, well said.
