Kelly Clarkson's brand new baby boy already has an Ellen-approved nickname.

American Idol alumni Kelly Clarkson, 33, is now a mum of two, welcoming a new baby boy into the family on Thursday.

Sharing the news with fans on Twitter, Clarkson wrote, “Our little baby boy has arrived!! Remington Alexander Blackstock was born 4/12/16 & he is healthy & we couldn’t be happier or more in love!”

Remington is a bit of a mouthful for a tiny baby, but don’t worry everyone’s saviour on this earth, Ellen, has a solution.

She quickly tweeted her congratulations to Clarkson, saying: “I’ll call him Remy for short.”

Clarkson replied confirming that Remy is what the family is also calling the new arrival.

This is Clarkson’s second child with husband Brandon Blackstock, who welcomed 22-month-old daughter River Rose shortly after marrying in 2013.

Blackstock also has two children from a previous marriage.

According to Clarkson, the two met through her manager – Blackstock’s father – many years earlier, but didn’t get together until 2012 when Blackstock attended the Super Bowl newly single.

The rest as they say, is history, with Clarkson sharing their relationship and parenting via her social media channels regularly.

Clarkson announced her pregnancy in August 2015 while performing in Los Angeles and continued performing up until recent weeks.

Prior to Remy's arrival, the singer also released a heartfelt ballad, Piece By Piece, a song addressing the troubled relationship she had with her absentee father, and how Blackstock has slowly restored her faith in men and the idea of what a father can be.

Congratulations, to the Clarkson Blackstocks!
