Kesha speaks for the first time since a judge kept her working with her alleged rapist.

It has been a turbulent and traumatic week for Kesha Rose Sebert.

Pictured broken and sobbing on Friday as she learned the Supreme Court Judge’s decision to lock her into a contract with her alleged abuser Dr Luke, the singer’s unsuccessful legal battle has dominated headlines since.

While the 28-year-old remained silent in the shadow of her loss, celebrities immediately filled her heartbroken silence with their powerful noise. Taking to social media to pledge both seething outrage and unwavering support, the #IStandWithKesha movement was born.

Fellow singers by the likes of Lady Gaga, Lorde and Ariana Grande tweeted messages of solidarity. Taylor Swift contributed $250,000.

But now, for the first time since being told she could not escape the man she says raped her, the star has broken her silence.

Today, on her personal Instagram account, the ‘Timber’ singer posted:

I am beyond words in gratitude. Thank you is not enough but it is all I have. A million times over and forever thank you.

‘The support I have received has left my face swollen from tears. I love you all so much. A statement too large for this format is coming….”

The post has quickly garnered a public response, with thousands of fans reiterating the same two messages: ‘Stay strong Kesha’, and ‘Justice will come’.

While we wait for Kesha’s full statement, the voices of celebrities, fans and women around the world who have been affected by sexual assault are only getting louder.

Lena Dunham’s latest edition of Lenny Letter, ‘Why Kesha’s Case Is About More Than Kesha’ rings true. And now, what started out as a very personal fight between a bright star and her music producer is quickly becoming much, much bigger than that.
