Kim Kardashian writes about her sex tape. Wants us to stop talking about her sex tape.

Kim Kardashian has expanded on her Twitter-fest of last night about her nude selfie. Today, she has written an essay posted on her personal website requesting the general public to please get over the fact that she once made a sex tape.

To recap: Yesterday, Kardashian, 35, posted another picture of herself naked to social media. Bette Midler wrote a humorous tweet alluding to the fact that we’ve see KK’s naked body many thousands of times before. Piers Morgan also weighed in, offering to buy poor nude Kim some clothing made of more than digital black bars.

Kardashian took the time to respond to her detractors online, inferring from their comments that they were slut-shaming her because she was posing nude in a sexy fashion in a public forum.

Indeed, most of the comments on KK’s post pointed out that she is a wife and the mother of two children, as if that somehow that precludes her from being an internet sex-muffin in the first degree.

Following her unusually witty (Kanye-level witty, not like, Dorothy Parker-level witty) Twit-fest last night, she decided she had some more long-form thoughts to share, so she did, on her subscription-only website.

“Hey, guys. I wanted to write a post elaborating on my tweets last night,” she began.

In all seriousness, I never understand why people get so bothered by what other people choose to do with their lives. I don’t do drugs, I hardly drink, I’ve never committed a crime — and yet I’m a bad role model for being proud of my body?

It always seems to come back around to my sex tape. Yes, a sex tape that was made 13 years ago. 13 YEARS AGO. Literally that lonnng ago. And people still want to talk about it?!?!

I lived through the embarrassment and fear, and decided to say who cares, do better, move on. I shouldn’t have to constantly be on the defense, listing off my accomplishments just to prove that I am more than something that happened 13 years ago.

Let’s move on, already. I have.

I am empowered by my body. I am empowered by my sexuality. I am empowered by feeling comfortable in my skin. I am empowered by showing the world my flaws and not being afraid of what anyone is going to say about me. And I hope that through this platform I have been given, I can encourage the same empowerment for girls and women all over the world.

I am empowered by my husband, who is so accepting and supportive and who has given me a newfound confidence in myself. He allows me to be me and loves me unconditionally.

I feel so lucky to have grown up surrounded by strong, driven, independent women. The life lessons I’ve learned from my sisters, my mother and my grandmother, I will pass along to my daughter. I want her to be proud of who she is. I want her to be comfortable in her body. I don’t want her to grow up in a world where she is made to feel less-than for embracing everything it means to be a woman.

It’s 2016. The body-shaming and slut-shaming — it’s like, enough is enough. I will not live my life dictated by the issues you have with my sexuality. You be you and let me be me.

I am a mother. I am a wife, a sister, a daughter, an entrepreneur and I am allowed to be sexy.

Here are some thoughts about this essay.

1. Absolutely body-shaming and slut-shaming are unacceptable, and good on her for saying so; however

2. She may feel “liberated” and “empowered” by tweeting out year-old photoshopped nudes of herself, but what about young women and girls who see them? How do they feel when they see Kim Kardashian’s perfect bits held up as the feminine ideal? I don’t understand why her personal empowerment requires hundreds of millions of people seeing her pudenda.

3. That she’s been in a sex-tape is no longer relevant and won’t ever be a reason to dismiss her voice, but sex is her brand. The entire sex-tape debacle was a financial boon for KK and she continues to use her sexiness to make a whole lot of money, a fact about which she bragged in her tweets last night.

Hear no evil… Kim Kardashian’s “Kimojis”.

3. “I don’t want [North] to grow up in a world where she is made to feel less-than for embracing everything it means to be a woman.” OK sure, but posing nude in front of the mirror with your spray tan and your lasered off Brazilian isn’t “embracing everything it means to be a woman”. It’s narcissism.

4. “He allows me to be me” — Kanye West entirely changed Kim Kardashian’s entire aesthetic when they got together and is apparently also trying to control the rest of her sisters.

Here is Bette Midler singing Kim Kardashian tweets. Post continues after video…

This is a woman from a family whose materialism, consumerism, superficiality, and self-obsession is influencing millions of young women and girls. I do think she’s more than just a reality star who made a sex tape. A businesswoman and entrepreneur Kim Kardashian has become, but why is producing cheap self-branded items that will eventually become landfill admirable? Why does being obscenely rich qualify a person as a success?

Look, I get what she’s saying and I appreciate the point, but I just can’t cheer for a Kardashian, especially not one who once made this abomination:
