The curious situation surrounding Kim Kardashian's latest "terrible and toxic" posts.

Can anyone loan Kim Kardashian a few dollars? It would seem the reality star is short of a buck and, in a desperate bid to put food on the table, chose to endorse an appetite-suppressing lollipop to her impressionable 111 million Instagram followers.

Posting on Instagram on Wednesday, Kardashian wrote:

“#ad You guys… @flattummyco just dropped a new product. They’re Appetite Suppressant Lollipops and they’re literally unreal. They’re giving the first 500 people on their website 15 percent OFF so if you want to get your hands on some… you need to do it quick! #suckit.”

Aside from the small fact that if the lollipops were “literally unreal”, they would actually cease to exist, many took immediate issue with how someone with her riches and fame felt the need to advertise such a questionable product.

“No. F*ck off,” actress Jameel Jamil wrote on Twitter in a tweet that has since been retqeeted more than 11,000 times. “No. You terrible and toxic influence on young girls. I admire their mother’s branding capabilities, she is an exploitative but innovative genius, however this family makes me feel actual despair over what women are reduced to.

“MAYBE don’t take appetite suppressors and eat enough to fuel your BRAIN and work hard and be successful. And to play with your kids. And to have fun with your friends. And to have something to say about your life at the end, other than ‘I had a flat stomach’,” she wrote.

The Mighty reports Instagram deleted Kim Kardashian’s post after backlash began in the name of creating a healthy and safe environment for users. In their community guidelines, which includes an entire page dedicated to eating disorders, the platform writes:

“Encouraging or urging people to embrace self-injury is counter to this environment of support, and we’ll remove it or disable accounts if it’s reported to us.”

Curiously, it appears the photos are back on her account, meaning the banning – or deleting – of the ad didn’t last very long.

Perhaps not surprisingly, it’s not the first time Kim Kardashian has promoted products from Flat Tummy’s line, including teas and meal-replacement shakes. Awesome.
