Lara Bingle has been handed down a suspended six-month jail sentence.
And no, it’s not because of that ongoing feud with a paparazzo, after her almost-maybe-definitely-likely husband Sam Worthington punched him in the face.
The 26-year-old model, businesswoman and swimwear designer was found guilty of driving on two occasions without a licence. She was pulled over in November and December last year.
As well as her suspended sentence, Bingle was fined $2000 and banned from driving for two years.
Bingle pleaded not guilty to the two charges and pointed out that she has already undergone a driving offender’s program since she was caught. But that wasn’t enough for Magistrate Claire Farnan to give Bingle any leniency and told her, “Your driving record is very poor.”
In deciding to give Bingle a suspended jail sentence, the magistrate said that she took into account the fact that the model is someone who has “contributed to the community”.
Bingle was smiling as she walked out of Waverly Local Court, no doubt relieved.
