Lindsay Lohan’s devastating revelation on the final episode of her documentary series with Oprah Winfrey just proves that you can never judge a Hollywood trainwreck by appearances.
When the 27-year-old actress took a two week break from filming with Oprah, of course everyone assumed Li-Lo was boozing, tripping, or up to some other miscellaneous celebrity mischief. But in reality, the star was recovering from one of the most traumatic experiences a woman can have.
Watching the strawberry-haired star speak rawly about such a horrific experience is like a punch to the heart. Whether you’ve got a soft spot for the Mean Girls actress or not, it’s really hard to see her break down like this.
“No one knows this, but I had a miscarriage for those two weeks I took off,” Lindsay says. “I was sick, and that mentally messes with you.”

Lindsay left the interview after this revelation, without revealing who the father was or whether the pregnancy was intentional or accidental.
Throughout the whole eight-part series with Oprah, Lindsay’s spoken very openly about the bizarre experience of extreme fame. Watching footage of herself gives her that really strange feeling of watching someone else; like she’s watch a stranger try – and repeatedly fail – to get her life on track.
“Watching this series, I just know how I felt at that moment and I can relate to that girl, which sounds kind of crazy,” she said. “But I’m like, ‘Oh my god, this is really sad. Who’s helping her?’”
Well, Oprah tried. She’s just confirmed that she will not be filming anything more with Lindsay, but she did really try to tell her to get her shit together. Lindsay’s life and sobriety coach recently quit his job when he found out Li-Lo had been drinking, and she has a troubled relationship with her mama. Despite fame, celebrity, whatever; my heart goes out to her. I remember my miscarriage as the worst physical pain I have ever experienced, which is only exacerbated by the mental pain. Even a forceps birth was less painful overall. Someone needs to take her to a quiet place where she can listen to Tori Amos' album 'From The Choirgirl Hotel' on repeat, drink grapefruit juice and let herself recover.
I'm so stupid, but I'd never thought about the physical pain side of miscarriages before. I kind of never realised they would physically hurt. The fact that that side of things is never ever mentioned goes to show how mentally painful it must be. I'm really sorry that happened to you.
Thanks, Alice, but you're not 'stupid' for not knowing. I had no idea either until it happened! It this 'hush hush' attitude about miscarriage and what it's like (different for different women) that we're left in the dark as to what to expect.
Not wanting to cause offense, but I have never heard having suffered a miscarriage described as "being sick". And I've had two.
Americans use different expressions to us...but she certainly wouldn't have been well, knowing what i went through with mine...
With respect, I have also suffered 2 miscarriages and both times felt quite unwell with intense back pain and cramping. Maybe 'sick' isn't the right word but going by my experiences, I can see why she would describe it that way.
