Eight things you never knew about Meghan Markle.

You probably know Meghan Markle as the actress who is hours away from marrying Prince Harry, but she’s so much more than that.

The 35-year-old has been acting for over 12 years, she’s also an entrepreneur, a writer, and a humanitarian.

Here’s a round up of everything you probably didn’t know about LA born and bred actress:

1. Her real name isn’t Meghan.

Markle’s first name is actually Rachel and her full name is Rachel Meghan Markle.

2. She’s the co-creator of a clothing line.

Meghan co-created a clothing line for Canadian retailer Reitmans. She is also the brand ambassador for the retailer.

3. She has a lifestyle blog.

Meghan established The Tig in 2014 as a place to share her hunger for food, travel, fashion & beauty.

“Meghan created a space to share all of these loves, to invite friends to share theirs as well, and to be the breeding ground for ideas & excitement – – for an inspired lifestyle.”

The actress also incorporated her love of food into her role as Rachel Zane in the legal drama Suits.

4. She loves to give back.

In 2016, she became the Global Ambassador for World Vision Canada and travelled to Rwanda for the Clean Water Campaign. She has also worked as an advocate for United Nations Women, presenting at the UN Headquarters for the He for She Gender Equality Campaign in September 2014 and that same year she travelled to Afghanistan with the Chairman of the Joints Chiefs of Staff on a USO tour.

The Suits actor is also a counsellor for the international charity One Young World. She gave speeches on gender equality and modern day slavery at the annual Summits in Dublin in 2014 and Ottawa in 2016.

6. She’s best friends with the Williams sisters.

Meghan is best buds with Serena and Venus Williams. She often attends her friends’ tennis matches, and Meghan was there to support Serena when she debuted her fashion line at New York Fashion Week last year.

7. She almost went into politics.

Before Markle got into acting, she seriously considered a career in politics. She was so committed to that idea that, after her junior year, she got a job at the U.S. Embassy in Buenos Aires.

“By my junior year I had finished most of my credits, and so I applied for an internship at the U.S. Embassy, so I ended up working in the embassy in Buenos Aires for a few months. It was their economic devaluation and our Secretary of the Treasury at the time, Paul O’Neill, was there, so I’m 20 years old, in Buenos Aires, in a motorcade, doing that whole thing. I thought for sure I would still have a career in politics,” she told Marie Claire.

8. She lives in Canada.

Despite being born and raised in Los Angeles, Markle now lives in Canada. Following the success of Suits, she relocated to Toronto, where the show is filmed, and seems to have made herself at home.
