Miss Piggy has won an award for being kick-ass feminist. About time really.

“Eat your heart out, Meryl.”

Despite having appeared in eight feature films, countless award-winning television series and having millions of fans worldwide, the incomparable Miss Piggy has never received an award. Outrageous, I know.

That will all change in June though, when superstar Miss Piggy is honoured with a prestigious award celebrating women who have smashed gender barriers and made remarkable contributions to their fields.

You go, Miss Piggy!

Miss Piggy will receive the award at the Sackler Center First Awards at the Brooklyn Museum.

The founder of the awards, Elizabeth Sackler, said Miss Piggy was deservedly joining “the august pantheon of extraordinary women” who have received the honour previously.

“Miss Piggy embodies exceptional spirit, determination, and grit, when needed, which has taught important lessons about overcoming obstacles to millions of young people, parents, grandparents—and virtually everyone who has ever watched this indomitable character on television or in films,” she told the Disney Insider.

Always modest, Miss Piggy appropriately expressed her excitement on Twitter.

“Moi is thrilled—but frankly, not surprised to be receiving this Sackler Center First Award,” Miss Piggy said. “It is truly wonderful to be celebrated and share this honour with fellow legends, role models, and pioneers of female fabulosity. We rock!”

Miss Piggy has previously been called “The Gloria Steinem of the Muppet World” and fittingly, will be interviewed by the famous feminist, journalist and political activist in a 20-minute career retrospective at the awards ceremony.

Kermit the Frog has confirmed that he will also be in attendance.

Bravo, Miss Piggy. Well deserved.
