Your favourite '90s rom-com is being made into a TV show.

It helped launch the careers of Cameron Diaz and Julia Roberts – and now, My Best Friend’s Wedding is coming back to our screens.

That’s right – the iconic ’90s rom-com is being made into a TV show.

Almost 20 years after the film was first released, The Hollywood Reporter claims that it will be adapted as a comedy for the ABC network.

It will follow the characters’ lives post-wedding.

The 1997 film starred Roberts as Julianne Potter, who only realises she’s in love with her best friend Michael O’Neal (played by Dermot Mulroney) after he announces his engagement to Kimmy Wallace (Cameron Diaz).

Julianne and MIchael had previously made a pact that they would marry each other if they weren’t married by the time they turned 28, and so Julianne secretly tries to sabotage the wedding while pretending to be Kimmy’s dutiful maid of honour.

The reboot is unlikely to star any of the original cast members – but Ron Bass, who wrote the screenplay, and Jerry and Janet Zucker, the film’s producers, will all be involved in the new project.

It’s not the only ’90s movie to be remade recently. Earlier this year Jurassic Park returned to cinemas, while new Ghostbusters, The Craft, Jumanji, Drop Dead Fred and IT movies are also in the works.

It’s very exciting news – but we’re not sure if anything can beat the original movie.
