"I'm heartbroken." Nadia Bartel has addressed her rumoured split from husband Jimmy.

Nadia Bartel has spoken for the first time about her split from her husband of five years, former AFL player Jimmy Bartel.

The mother-of-two told the Herald Sun it had been a “difficult month” for her in the wake of her split from Jimmy, 35, the father of her two young children, Aston, four, and Henley, 10 months.

The publication reported “friends of the couple” alleged Jimmy is in a relationship with UK-based Australian Lauren Mand, and Nadia found out “via text messages”.

“Although I’m heartbroken, I don’t want to comment specifically on what’s been reported about Jim’s trip to the UK as I don’t think that is in anyone’s interests,” Nadia told the Herald Sun.

“My single focus now is to continue to protect, care and provide for my two beautiful boys as this is a personal matter.”

Nadia and Jimmy met in 2008 and married in 2014. Rumours of their split began circling after the pair unfollowed each other on Instagram.

On Saturday, while on radio station 3AW, Jimmy did not confirm the rumours but did admit, “It’s not great”.

“I am probably not going to provide any commentary on it,” he said.

Asked if he’ll continue to be at work in light of the difficult time, Bartel responded: “I still enjoy coming to work and I love working with everybody in football. I love the game so I can’t see why I wouldn’t keep showing up for work”.

Rumours of the split began last week after the two unfollowed each other on Instagram. Jimmy has also since made his profile, where he has over 100,000 followers, private.
