Neighbours pulled off the biggest cliffhanger of the year and now we're addicted.

Like most people of a certain age, I stopped watching Neighbours years ago when it started trying to be Home and Away.

Or maybe it’s just that I was getting older, and was no longer interested in the lives of the ‘youngins’ on the show. Then there were the constant timeslot and then channel changes.

But something major has happened to draw me straight back in.

Listen to Rosie Waterland and Laura Brodnik talk about the Neighbours cliffhanger on The Binge.

13 years ago Dee Bliss disappeared after her husband of a few minutes became distracted while snogging her, so distracted (she was incredibly beautiful and he was totally “punching above his weight”) he drove through a fence and their crappy car plunged into the ocean.

I'll never forget the scene showing the car sailing through the air, Dee's bridal veil flapping out of her open window. It was very Thelma & Louise and rewatching it this morning on YouTube left me feeling chilled.

But now DEE IS BACK. I know, I know, you're thinking. Since when did Neighbours become Bold & the Beautiful?

Since, NOW. And I for one am THRILLED.

Okay, I'll stop writing in capitals now.

Dee Bliss (Madeleine West) joined Neighbours in 2000 and in a true Beauty and the Beast moment fell in love with the affable Jarrod "Toadfish/Toadie Rebecchi". Their wedding episode in 2003 was the most-watched episode of the year.

Their relationship had been rocky, particularly due to Toadie's outspoken mum Angie.

Their marriage lasted just a few blissful minutes before the accident. Dee's body was never found and in true soapie style, Toadie cried his way through a few episodes, a funeral, a trial before moving onto someone else.

But now Dee has been spotted and Toadie hires a private investigator to find out if Dee is still alive. Amnesia? Escape from MIL hell? That's what we all want to find out.

The storyline is sure to be complicated owing to the fact Toadie is now married to Sonya Mitchell (Eve Morey) and they are expecting a baby together.

Maybe the baby is Dee's! Maybe Dee who didn't die but forgot her life went on to live a full life during which she donated some eggs and Sonya - hiding the fact she is infertile from Toadie - purchased some of those eggs and is actually carrying Dee's and Toadie's child.

Stay with me here.

After much speculation the Neighbours 2017 promo seems to confirm what we all hoped to be true. Dee Bliss is back!

And maybe when Dee comes back she and Toadie fall back in love as they co-parent their child and Sonya dies in a terrible car accident.

Okay, so I'm not a TV script writer, for good reason.

Whatever the case, however they choose to explain Dee Bliss and her disappearance/reappearance, I am into it. I'm all over it.

I'm make-special-snacks-for-Dee's-return excited.

And I'm not the only one.
