Celeb news: Desperate Housewives star opens up about drug addiction

Moved by the tragic death of Philip Seymour Hoffman this week, Shawn Pyfrom has confessed his own struggle with drugs and alcohol addiction.

The 27-year-old plays Andrew Van de Camp on the hit show Desperate Housewives (Marcia Cross’s character Bree Van de Camp’s drug-addicted son).

He hopes sharing his story might give hope to others still suffering.

“I am an alcoholic and a drug addict,” Pyfrom wrote on his Tumblr, who’s been sober five months.  “Anytime a person uses drugs, they are taking the chance that their life will be taken from them.”

He continued, “I’m an addict… And I’ve never been more proud, saying it. Because when I think about where I’ve been and where I am now… I am proud of the man who has addressed and admitted to himself what was once a clouded denial. I have no judgments… only compassion for those who currently struggle with their addictions.”

Sexiest man alive goes on Sesame Street and it’s adorable.

British actor Benedict Cumberbatch has just found another way to win our hearts.

The star of Sherlock was voted ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ in 2013 by Empire, but we actually prefer his cameo on Sesame Street.

The ’90s TV hunk who got rid of all his glorious hair

This is travesty. An outrage. A crime against thick, voluminous hair in middle-aged men.

John Stamos – Full House actor and the man we’re all secretly in love with – has just posted a picture of himself bald.

We’ve been assured that it’s a bald cap for a skit he’s filming, but it gave us a real fright. Don’t play with our emotions like that, John Stamos.

To help you recover from this shocking image, here’s John back in the 90s with a full head of luscious locks:

Barbie designer gives worst explanation ever for the doll’s proportions

But don’t fret – at least all our questions have been answered. And by all, we mean none.

Mattel’s lead designer Kimberly Culone has clarified why Barbie’s body shape is so unrealistic when compared to all humans ever.

The reason? To make dressing her easier of course.

Wait. What?

Culone said B’s body was “never designed to be realistic” and that she was only designed that way “for girls to easily dress and undress”.

… that sound you just heard is the collective exasperated sigh of body image campaigners everywhere.

Kate Winlset’s new movie looks amazing

Looking for something to do this weekend?

Look no further – just grab your girlfriends and head to the movies to see Labor Day, starring Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin. Hitting cinemas tomorrow, Labor Day is a film by Jason Reitman (the director of Up In The Air, Juno and Young Adult).

Labor Day centres on 13-year-old Henry Wheeler, who struggles to be the man of his house and care for his reclusive mother Adele (Kate Winslet) while confronting all the pangs of adolescence. On a back-to-school shopping trip, Henry and his mother encounter Frank Chambers (Josh Brolin), a man both intimidating and clearly in need of help, who convinces them to take him into their home and later is revealed to be an escaped convict. The events of this long Labor Day weekend will shape them for the rest of their lives.

It’s a romance with a difference, and a story about hope, risk and taking chances.
