It’s what all dads wish they could do.
Unless you’ve been hiding in a dark corner of a locked room, you probably already know that Prince William has a new job. He has just begun his work as an air ambulance pilot with Bond Air Services.
“The Duke of Cambridge has today started work as an employee of Bond Air Services,” Kensington Palace said in a statement. “He will undertake job-specific training before he begins piloting missions for East Anglian Air Ambulance during the summer.”
Apparently, he’ll be paid the equivalent of $77, 539 annually (according to reports on 9news) and he will donate it completely to charity.
It’s a big job for the Prince to be taking up just weeks before his second baby is due. But William hasn’t forgotten about his upcoming daddy duties either. After taking two weeks paternity leave when Prince George was born, Prince William will probably be doing the same for his second baby.
The Daily Mail said that a spokesperson for Bond Air Services discussed that the Duke could take leave, but they couldn't reveal how long he could take off.
"Like other pilots, he will be entitled to paternity leave," the spokesperson told The Daily Mail. "He has come to do a job as a professional, a pilot, and we’re very happy he’s going to be a pilot."
Before the Duke takes any paternity leave he will be working hard in his new position. He will be working alongside medics to respond to emergencies. He could be dealing with everything from traffic accidents to personal heart attacks. He will be doing some great work.
His new job was announced in February, leaving many wondering how it would work with a new baby (two in total) to look after, but it looks like the young royal couple have got it sorted. Paternity leave is a great solution.
