The shark looks bloody awesome. You set boundaries to maintain your sanity and manage your life while striving to be a good parent for your kid. Being a stay-at-home Mum is hard, but so is being a working Mum. You did good, really good from what I can tell. Although it's a bummer that you had to deal with the guilt stuff. I know about that too. Wish we'd stop beating ourselves up and just be the best we can be.

Ah yes....I thankfully eventually realised (after posting quite a few pix) that 'some moments are not mine to share'  (love that turn of phrase) when it came to my kids. I still feel guilty about it and have since discussed it with my kids. The thing that made me wake up was the idea that I was creating a digital presence for them where they had no say. It was not my place to do that. Thanks for articulating your sentiments so clearly, Mia. Being a public figure makes this even more challenging, and I bet your kids are happy you chose not to post pics of them online.

It's amazing that you get to wake up every day to do a job that you love. It's also amazing that your family has supported this journey and that everyone was involved in the decision making. Of course, it's not easy and of course, you were going to question what this was going to do to your family life and your partnership. But, you're an amazing role model to your kids and a true partner to your husband (as he clearly is to you). As you said, you're giving it your best shot and that's what counts. You found a solution that works for all of you AND you get to do a job that you love. Respect.

This is a good piece. Logical, informative, factual, and with context and perspective. It's a good example of why independent and good journalism is so vital to our communities, despite the negative fallout that much of the media sector has faced in recent years. I'm sorry that you can't do your job without having to deal with abuse. Thank you for what you're doing, and helping us understand the big picture. As an Australian who has lived abroad for years, and now settled permanently in Europe, it's still important for me to know what's happening in my first home, what people are thinking and the zeitgeist of the moment. Watching the pandemic and the vaccination rollout unfold has been particularly mind-blowing...so much to say, but this is not the place for it. Thanks, Gemma. I'll keep an eye out on your work.
