I honestly initially thought this was another overseas tragedy.

Apart from the obvious victims please spare a thought for the poor parents of the murderer. To live knowing you brought a child in to the world who grew capable of such things would be unbearable, not to mention their own personal grief for a son they (rightfully) will never get to see again. Unimaginable loss all round.

@beingmummy  Beautiful insight; so graceful. No parent should have to bury their child. As you rightly point out, the love goes on - and on. Wishing you continued peace.

Zero judgement but this makes me sad. All fully relatable of course (including larger bust size) and an eating disorder managed; BED. Best thing I've ever done, but it takes time, is eating within an eating window. It's free, safe (so long as not prone to anorexia) and effective. For me, it cuts the food noise and takes the obsessive focus away from food (ie if I see something I pop it aside for later = permission, not deprivation). My energy has increased and pain plus inflammation have decreased. My overall happiness and confidence have also increased. I tend to crave far less junk and honestly simply can't 'fit it in' like I always could before. Binges are a rarity after several decades! Amazing. It's all about insulin levels in your body. Highly recommend podcast (which is free) or book by Gin Stephens. For meaty scientific understanding/backing: Dr Jason Fung, "The Obesity Code". Please at least take a glance. Wishing you peace :)

@cat Agree with you and @Wendy22 wholeheartedly. Added to this I feel for his kids - their dad not being around for birthdays, engagements, weddings, the youngest's 21st. He would have made the proudest Grandpa, too. Ohhh simply far too young to be gone forever. Vale Warnie.

Thank you - more of these sorts of stories please!

@cat Definitely. Only other I can think of is a former top female player's father... Dokic.  What an amazing woman she is, also a tennis commentator.

To be respectfully frank Clare, you've just described family members who have ADD/ADHD. Could be worth checking out if you feel you would gain from this knowledge? Regardless, a book they praise is 'Smart but scattered'. Taught them how to use their brain's executive skills, keep up and be organised at work and home. All the best

I feel for you, too. We're in the same country as our families and our last visit was April '19 and tbh it feels as if they/we too are overseas. Since then my tween has become a man-sized teen and his older ASD brother attempted to take his own life earlier this year. Negotiating borders with authorities for family help was too much. Thank goodness for support workers! May you enjoy your Dad's day tomorrow and enjoy a virtual squeeze until the real one can happen...and it will happen!
