US Comedian Rosie O’Donnell issued a public plea on Twitter today to help find her teenage daughter, who had been reported missing.

Before she was found, Chelsea O’Donnell, 17, was last seen on Tuesday, August 11 after leaving home with her therapy dog, a terrier called Bear.

A statement on 53-year-old Rosie O’Donnell’s website said Chelsea stopped taking her medicine for an undisclosed mental illness, and was in need of medical attention.

“Nyack, New York police authorities have been looking for her in the Rockland County area since Sunday, August 16,” the website post adds.

“She was wearing a black sweatshirt hoodie, dark ripped blue jeans, women’s grey converse sneakers and a black backpack. Chelsea has a large tattoo on her right side of a dream catcher with the word ‘Breathe.’

Family spokeswoman Cindi Berger told CNN:  “Chelsea, like millions of people, lives with mental illness. It has been a difficult road for Chelsea and her family, and they just want her back safe.”

Sgt. David Wilson said Chelsea did not have her own phone with her, but used an unknown mobile phone to contact her family between 11 August and Sunday.

Chelsea, who is Rosie’s daughter with ex Kelli Carpenter, is one of Rosie’s five children. According to Hollywood Take, Rosie adopted Chelsea at two months old in 1997.

CNN reports police did not officially classify Chelsea as “missing”, but they were investigating.
