"I'm her number one fan": Rove McManus passionately defends co-host Sam Frost.

It’s fair to say that Sam Frost’s foray into the cutthroat world of breakfast radio hasn’t been a bowl of Coco Pops.

Her co-host McManus has come out in defense of his radio partner, with whom it was hoped he’d form an instant and palpable rapport.

“You’ve got to weather the storm,” he told news.com.au of the criticism Frost has received.

“I think she’s doing a tremendous job and there is nobody else that I would wanna have in that chair talking to me for three hours everyday. She’s just an absolute delight to hang out with, she’s so naturally talented. I’m her number one fan. I think she’s fantastic.”

Even before her dulcet tones graced the airwaves, critics were questioning her appointment as co-host of Sydney’s most coveted radio spot.

They became louder after her debut. Kyle Sandilands predicted she’d get the axe sooner rather than later (but he has a longstanding beef with Rove).

“Rove will stay for at least a year. They will blame that poor girl for the ratings so they will replace her,” he said from his perch on KISS FM’s radio show.

“She doesn’t have the radio skills. She is a sweetheart and a lovely thing but they will keep blaming people until they realise it [low ratings] keeps happening.”

A “lovely thing”? Ugh.

An “insider” reportedly told New Idea that co-host Rove McManus thinks she’s “still like a rabbit in the headlights”.

“Rove is a businessman, a father and enjoys travel. He just feels like he is dealing with someone on work experience rather than a co-host.”

It doesn’t sound likely that McManus actually said that. Like, at all.

“I’m really, really happy. Supremely happy. Some shows are going to be better than others, but on the whole, it really feels like we’re just on a really great track now. It just feels really comfy,” he told news.com.au upon being asked for an “honest assessment” of how Rove and Sam is going.

Stay the course, Rove and Sam! We believe in you.
