The hardest working royal family member of 2018 has been revealed and the results are pretty surprising.
Although Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton undoubtedly dominated headlines throughout the year, it was actually the Queen’s daughter Princess Anne who took out the title of hardest working royal last year.
For the past 39 years, The Times reporter Tim O’Donovan has calculated and compiled an annual list of the royal family’s engagements.
O’Donovan’s calculations are based of the Count Circular, which is published by the palace.
In 2018, Princess Anne managed to clock up more engagements than Prince Harry, Prince William and Kate Middleton combined.
According to O’Donovan’s list, she made 447 domestic appearances as well as 71 overseas engagements.
Princess Anne, who is 13th in line to the throne, was closely followed in the list by her brother and heir to the throne, Prince Charles.

Ya know, I’d make like Princess Anne too , it comes with free luxury meals and transport, just to listen to speeches and make small talk.
Anyone who has a real interest in the royals (rather than just a fawning obsession with Meghan and Harry) would not be surprised at this news at all. Anne has always been a powerhouse. Similarly, "lesser" royals such as the Wessexes put in countless appearances and good work that you don't appear to think is worth mentioning on this site.
Princess Anne is 'old', she is not glamorous, is not seen wearing thousands of pounds of new clothes each appearance, hugging members of the public, or a self declared humanitarian feminist. She is regal with a certain froideur - attributes which are not consistent with the 'fab four' brand of celebrity royalty, therefore not worth writing about. Prince Charles wanted a slim down monarchy, pity his two sons didn't inherit his work ethic. I do get a laugh though when journalists bang on about Kate's 'maternity leave'.
Upvoted for introducing me to the word "froideur"
If you can tell me how to pronounce it - I'll log-in with my alt account and upvote again. ;o)
