One of Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds' closest friends tried to sell pictures of their baby.

That’s low.

It’s an unspoken rule that you don’t make any announcements about your friends’ newborn baby — don’t post on Facebook, don’t whisper the name, don’t high-five because you guessed the correct birthweight in the office sweep — until they do.

This must be a doubly so when you’re the friend of a celebrity with a baby.

Every paparazzi and his dog was trying to get a shot of Ryan Reynolds’ and Blake Lively’s newborn baby girl James after her birth last December.

The couple kept their baby’s appearance to themselves, posting only those cute yet frustrating pictures of a tiny hand or the back of a head.

Obviously, maintaining their and their daughter’s privacy is important to them, which is why Reynolds was so heartbroken to discover one of his closest friends was trying to sell pictures of his baby daughter to the highest bidder.

“A guy that I’d known for my whole life, one of my closest friends growing up, he had been shopping pictures of my baby around,” Reynolds told GQ.

“I kind of got in front of it, which is good. But it was a slightly dark period. A bad couple of weeks… It was like a death. It was like one of those devastating things to find out.”

Neither Lively nor Reynolds has ever shared any photos of James’ face since her birth.

“[He did it] just for money. I mean, I don’t think he thought he would ever be caught. But it’s a pretty narrow group of people that I would send photos like that to. They’re just, like, my closest family and my closest friends: ‘Here’s us in the delivery room!’ … It was, like, so kind of shocking,” Reynolds said.

“There isn’t really a conversation to have. It’s just, ‘Oh, well, now I’m never going to see you or talk to you again, unfortunately.’ That’s kind of how it worked out.”

Ouch. Tough but fair.

But still… can we please see a picture of your baby now?
