Rove & Sam radio duo axed six months after being removed from breakfast slot.

Sam Frost will leave radio today after her show with Rove McManus was axed from the HIT Network.

In a statement to Mamamia, a spokesperson for Southern Cross Austereo confirmed news that Frost will being leaving the network after the show’s axing.

“Rove and Sam’s 7-8 pm show on the Hit Network will finish up today, June 30. Rove’s remaining within the SCA family and working on a new project with another part of our business. Sam’s contract has now ended and we wish her well with her coming up TV work,” the network said.

There is no word yet as to what projects McManus will be working on without his radio partner.

The news comes just six months after the duo were moved from their prime time breakfast radio slot to evenings, replaced by Em Rusciano and Harley Breen.

In January, a statement released by the Hit Network said the decision came “after Rove & Sam along with SCA executives took some time off over the summer”.

At time, and off the shuffle, McManus said: “One of the pleasures of 2016 has been working with Sam so I am looking forward to continuing working with her in 2017 at a more civilised time of day”.

Neither McManus or Frost have yet addressed the announcement.

Sam Frost will remain in the pubic eye, however, heading back to Australian screens as a contestant on Channel 7’s upcoming Hell’s Kitchen hosted by Marco Pierre White.
