Sam Frost calls out her bullies in moving on-air letter.

Today marks a National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence.

It is a day to stand up and speak out, not only on behalf of ourselves and our own experiences, but the experiences of people who find themselves silenced. Whatever the reason.

Radio host and former Bachelorette Sam Frost today read an open letter to her bullies in an effort to draw attention to a problem that only seems to be getting worse.

“People including myself get bullied on a daily basis,” she said this morning on Rove and Sam, 2Day FM’s breakfast show. “And it’s something that I don’t think people really understand.”

It’s time to put a stop to bullying (post continues after video):

Having shot to fame at a rate of knots in the last few years, Sam Frost has been subjected to constant press and social media scrutiny. She knows all too well the impact that consistent harassment can have on a person.

“I wanted to think of something I could say to the bullies,” she said. “So I wrote I letter.”

Here is Sam’s open letter to the bullies:

Imagine if what you said about someone else online was said about you. Imagine being called fat and ugly on a daily basis. Imagine having no escape and no one to talk to. for just one moment think about what it would be like if a bully never left you alone. Think about leaving school and coming home to escape, but this bully came into your home. This bully was relentless.  They were no your Facebook, on your Instagram, on your Twitter. This bully was there 24 hours a day seven days a week.

Those empty words you write behind you keyboard have an eternal effect on the person they’re directed at. You have no idea what battles people are facing behind closed doors. Just because you are invisible and silent behind your computer, doesn’t mean those words don’t have an impact. You could ruin their day, their week and even their life.

Suicide remains one of the biggest killers among young people in Australia. Stop being a part of this tragic statistic and move forward. Why waste your energy cutting down others?

You don’t need to play the bully.

Ditch your social media accounts.

Be kinder to your self and you’ll be kinder to others.

Think before you post and you could save a life.
