Sarah Jessica Parker gave her son the sex talk at a very VERY young age.

Her explanation is gold.

No parent is overly excited about having the ‘birds-and-bees’ talk with their children. But most get more time to prepare than Sex and the City star, Sarah Jessica Parker had.

Parker’s son, James Wilkie, 12 asked where babies came from when he was just two years old…well sort of asked. The 50-year-old explained to David Letterman on The Late Show that it all came out of a misunderstanding.

“He asked me, at two years old – now, I misunderstood what he said – but I did tell him where babies came from, because I thought that’s what he asked,” she told Letterman.

Like any parent of a toddler who has only just learned to walk, Parker was completely taken off guard and had to scramble for an answer. So here's what she came up with:

"At that time I told him that, he had one seed and there was a young woman named Mary that he would meet in his sophomore year of college, and that she was going to be very smart and lovely and come from a nice family, and that he would choose Mary to give his seed to. But he had only one," she told the TV host.

Her son had actually been asking the question about a safety blanket that he had, which he used to call baby. Parker explained that he would hold the cloth up to his face and asked her where did baby come from, where do babies come from? And she freaked out and thought, oh gosh, where DO babies from?

Parker admitted she was in shock, assuming that she'd have another 12-14 years to prepare for this question. So, instead she thought about what she would like for her son and that was that he'd have one seed and he'd choose how to use it wisely.

She then admitted they have had 'the conversation' in a more real way after Wilkie was told everything by his neighbour's older brother.

"I was disappointed and relieved simultaneously," she told Letterman.

"Last night actually we had another conversation about it, because my daughter's told James Wilkie (who they call brother), they said they saw brother's penis in the shower. They said, the penis balls in the shower. So now I'm talking to my 5-year-old, soon to be 6-year-old about that as well."

I'd say she nailed it.

What would you say if a toddler asked you about where babies came from?
