"He’s absolute magic." Sylvia Jeffreys and Peter Stefanovic have welcomed a baby boy.

Sylvia Jeffreys and Peter Stefanovic have welcomed their first child together, a son named Oscar.

“Our beautiful boy, Oscar Hamilton Stefanovic. 3.4kg, deep blue eyes and perfectly healthy. He’s absolute magic,” Sylvia announced on her Instagram.

Peter, in his own post, said he was “unbelievably proud” of his wife and his “new best mate”.

“Love is strong. Life is fantastic,” he wrote.

The couple shared their pregnancy news in August 2019, saying they were over the moon to be expecting.

Just days before that announcement, the Channel Nine newsreader cryptically discussed her plans to start having children on KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O show, responding to recent pregnancy rumours.

“What’s your thoughts on a child? Is everyone trying to push you now that you’re married?” Kyle Sandilands asked.

“Oh that’s been happening from probably the first day of our honeymoon I think?” Sylvia replied. “Oh well, you can’t really plan these things, can you? It happens when it happens.”

“A lot of people are saying you and Pete won’t be able to get pregnant because you’re working at different ends of the day,” Kyle joked, to which she replied, “Well I can assure you we see each other enough.”

Sylvia, 33, and Pete, 38, wed in Kangaroo Valley, New South Wales, in April 2017 after a 10-month engagement.

Pete popped the question during a European holiday in 2016 while visiting a vineyard in the Bordeaux region.

The couple began dating almost four-and-a-half years ago, after working together as the 2014 summer hosts of the Today show.
