Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift had an epic fight on Twitter. Made up within minutes.

Cue the bad blood jokes.

It can sometimes be difficult to comprehend tone and even meaning in 140 characters or less.

Just ask Taylor Swift, who has found herself embroiled in a Twitter exchange with Nicki Minaj over the announcement of the MTV Video Music Awards.

The gist here seems to be that Nicki Minaj, 32, is pissed that her butt-heavy video for Anaconda wasn’t nominated for Video of the Year (it is nominated for Best Hip Hop Video and Best Female Video).

Bad blood? Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj exchanged words over Twitter.

Minaj’s video for Anaconda broke the Vevo record for most views with 19.6 million views in 24 hours. It was outdone — though not by much — by Taylor Swift’s video for Bad Blood with 20.1 million views in 24 hours.

Minaj tweeted, “When the ‘other’ girls drop a video that breaks records and impacts culture they get that nomination.”

And:

“If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year.”

Extremely slim woman and leader of the gang of other extremely slim (mostly supermodel) women, Swift, 25, took this to be a reference to herself.

She tweeted back, “@NICKIMINAJ I’ve done nothing but love & support you. It’s unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot.”

Minaj denies any of the tweets were about Taylor Swift. She must’ve been talking about nominee Ed Sheeran?

“Huh? U must not be reading my tweets,” she wrote. “Didn’t say a word about u. I love u just as much. But u should speak on this. @TaylorSwift13.”

Minaj pointed out that her video was culturally important (because we weren’t aware butts could do that before) and that if she were “a different ‘kind’ of artist” she definitely would have been nominated for VOTY and Best Choreography too.

“U couldn’t go on social media w/o seeing ppl doing the cover art, choreo, outfits for Halloween…an impact like that & no VOTY nomination?” she tweeted.

Minaj called reports of the supposed fight just white media trying to be divisive.

“Nothing I said had to do with Taylor. So what jabs? White media and their tactics. So sad. That’s what they want.”

That poor bumbling fool Kim Kardashian inadvertently got involved in the exchange by posting an ill-timed Instagram shot featuring her own butt.

She later took it down, tweeting, “I’m not trying to shade anyone! That’s not my style! I just thought that caption was perfect for that pic! Changing the caption now!”

Other nominees in the Video of the Year were: Beyonce for 7/11, Ed Sheeran for Thinking Out Loud, Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars for Uptown Funk and Kendrick Lamar for Alright.

Minaj added that she intends to be on the stage to collect her rightful prize.

Nicki Minaj intends to take what she believes is rightfully hers. Wonder how Swift will gracefully deal with that?

“Oh but trust me. I’ll be on that stage to collect my award for vid of the year,” she tweeted.

Poor Swift! To avoid another Kanye situation, she issued an invitation:

“@NICKIMINAJ If I win, please come up with me!!” Swift tweeted. “You’re invited to any stage I’m ever on.”
