After years of chatting online, this Tinder match is finally meeting in the weirdest way.

One week ago, Josh Avsec from Cleveland, Ohio, posted a screenshot of his three-year Tinder chat with Michelle Arendas to Twitter.

Now he and Arendas are travelling to Hawaii for their first date—and Tinder is footing the bill.

The pair have been “chatting” for three years but have never met in real life. Instead, their every exchange begins: “Hey, sorry for the late reply [insert highly inadequate excuse here].”

And then each waits approximately two months before responding in the message chain.

“One day I’m going to meet this girl and it’s going to be epic,” Avsec said when he posted the screenshots to Twitter. “Look at the dates of our Tinder texts.”

The exchange went viral and Tinder quickly stepped in…with the offer of a paid holiday, no less.

“It’s time you got together IRL,” Tinder tweeted. “You have 24 hrs to decide the city you want to have your first date in and we’ll send you there!”

All of a sudden replying didn’t seem so hard.

The pair got their heads together and chose Hawaii. Tinder has agreed.

“Aloha! We’re sending you to Maui but you can’t take two years to pack your bags!” the dating company tweeted.

The trip to Hawaii certainly sounds idyllic but the pressure on the pair is already intense. People around the world are betting they’ll get married, with others calling their pairing “fate.”

One woman has noticed both Josh and Michelle have cats in their Twitter profile pictures and ‘match-made-in-heaven’ status is confirmed.

Here’s hoping Avsec and Arendas make it to the airport on time…
