Celeb news: Reality TV star bullied for flirting on a dating show. Wait, what?

A woman has been bullied for flirting on a dating show.

Which is basically like being disqualified from a hot-dog eating contest for eating a hot dog.

Rebekah Clayfield is one of the girls who’s been touring the country on a bus with the show When Love Comes To Town. The premise is this: a bunch of pretty ladies jump on a bus, visit small towns, meet men and decide whether to stay in town for a potential romance or hop back on the bus and keep searching.

It’s a festival of televised flirting and this woman is just doin’ her thang.

The 23-year-old legal secretary, Rebekah, recently told TV Week that she could ‘flirt with a brick wall’ – such is her level of come-hither skill. She showed off her winky, smiley talent on the Aussie dating show and she’s now being bullied for it online and in real life.

Rebekah told Sydney Confidential that she’s been abused in person and on her Twitter account for her flirty behaviour. “No one goes on these things expecting to be the one that is hated. It is very confronting and very hurtful. I did take it to heart,” she said.

She says people genuinely walk up to her in public just to insult her and berate her for being a flirt.

Judging by her website, Rebekah’s getting through the trauma with a few fiesty inspo quotes:

Here she is with some of the other When Love Comes To Town bus buddies in a shoot for OK magazine. So far none of the others has reported being targeted online and in public. But if we look back on comments by Kelly from My Kitchen Rules and Tully from Big Brother… Being bullied is a nasty side-effect of reality TV fame.

All of these girls asked for fame and love. None of them asked to be humiliated, taunted and shamed for their behaviour on television.
