In case the cries of millions of millennials didn’t quite reach your ears over night, former One Direction star Zayn Malik and Victoria’s Secret model Gigi Hadid have broken up after two years together.
Because of course, why wouldn’t the world mourn a relationship of two strangers whom we’ve never met?
In a statement on Twitter, Malik said the couple had an “incredibly meaningful, loving and fun relationship”:
Hours later, Hadid posted a statement of her own on Twitter, writing “there is really no way to put into words what two people experience together over a few years”:
Naturally, the break-up gets that little bit more complicated when you consider the fact just a few months ago, Malik made the – should we say, short-sighted? – decision to tattoo Hadid’s eyeballs onto his chest.
