Carrie Bickmore just added a new job title to her resume.

It’s no secret that Carrie Bickmore is one talented woman, but as of Monday night there’s another feather being added to her professional cap beanie.

Joining The Project panel on Monday evening, radio star Chrissie Swan and comedian Joel Creasey announced their plan for a variety gala that’s set to raise funds following the tragic mass shooting in Orlando.

“We wanted to do something,” Swan explained, continuing, “we just felt really powerless and far away. And the LGBTI community is one that’s brought me much joy and good times and a real feeling of acceptance.”

While the pair's planning is still in it's still early days, so far the lineup reads like a who's who of Australian comedy with Julia Morris, Judith Lucy and Peter Helliar, as well as Magda Szubanski, Jane Turner and Marg Downey all confirmed.

One thing they were missing though, was someone just like one Carrie Bickmore.

"We are looking for a celebrity auctioneer, and we thought you could be amazing if you would join us,"Creasey asked mid-discussion.

"Do I have to make people spend more money? I'm not very good at that," Bickmore replied laughing, adding, "I'll be there. I'll try!"

What Bickmore is set to auction off is yet to be determined.

"The gays are really good at overcoming hardships and putting on damn good shows," Creasey said jokingly.

Profits are set to go to the Pulse Victims Fund, which has been set up to assist victims and the families of victims with any associated costs following the tragedy.

Before wrapping up for the evening Helliar asked the pair seriously, "Is it also about making a statement?"

Nodding, Creasey said, "Although we are heartbroken, we're going to keep going forward."

Turning what is arguably one of the darkest chapters in recent history into what Swan says is set to be "an enormously joyous and generous evening" is probably something we all need right now.

Swan and Creasey's variety gala lineup also includes the likes of Em Rusciano, Nazeem Hussain and Hugh Sheridan is set to be held on 9 July, with tickets on sale from midday on Tuesday 21 June.
