Orange is The New Black's Norma was a high pony-tail wearing 80's pop-star.

She plays Norma on the hit show Orange is the New Black.

But Annie Golden was a teen star in the late ’70s and early ’80s. A high pony-tail wearing teen star.

The 64-year-old actress who plays Norma on Orange is the New Black, fronted a band called The Shirts from the late ’70s to the mid ’80s. They played punk rock and pop.

Golden as a punk rocker.

Golden then went on to have a solo career in the late ’80s. Her solo song ‘Hang Up The Phone’ was even used on the soundtrack of Sixteen Candles starring Molly Ringwald.

She performed on The David Letterman Show. And on Broadway.

But that’s not even the half of it. Golden also starred in Hair and had featured roles in Cheers and Miami Vice.

Which makes us wish she had more of a say in Orange Is the New Black.
