What's happened to Survivor's Lee and El, a year since the show ended.

Apparently it is possible to discover love on a TV show that isn’t The Bachelor franchiseYou don’t even have to do the extreme and marry a stranger like on Married At First Sight.

You just might have to live on an isolated island for 55 days in Samoa as a castaway — yes, that means scavenging for food, finding shelter to sleep, trying to keep somewhat hygienic — to find that special someone just like Lee Carseldine, 41, and El Rowland, 33, did last year.

One year on from meeting on Australia Survivor, the show’s favourites are still very much together, sharing a home with three sons between them.

The pair, who were retrospective first and second runner-ups to winner Kristie Bennett, told News Corp they live together in Brisbane.

“There are challenges, we have a blended family, but it’s been going really well,” Carseldine said.

Neither Carseldine nor Rowland expected to meet someone on the show.

“It was the last thing on my mind, meeting someone on the Island,” Carseldine said. “But I guess the stars aligned and we have a great connection.”

Still very much in love, the strong bond they formed on the island however didn’t mean the couple faced no challenges post-survivor world.

“It was the last thing on my mind, meeting someone on the Island,” he explained. “But I guess the stars aligned and we have a great connection.”

The couple told News Corp they are as to whether they will celebrate their first anniversary when they first met each other on the Samoan island or when they started dating once the show had finished.

Lee and El have recently returned from their trip to Borneo to raise awareness about palm oil endangering orangutans.

Talk about couple goals.

The second season of Australian Survivor premieres this Sunday on Channel Ten at 7.30pm.
