This is how Angelina included her mum in her special day.
Brad and Angelina were surrounded by their closest family and friends when they both said “I do” at the little chapel of Château Miraval. Sadly, Angelina was missing one important person on her special day. Her mother, Marcheline Bertrand, who lost her battle with ovarian cancer in 2007 at the age of 56.
But the way the famous couple decided to honour her on their wedding day is simply beautiful.
“Brad had a dedication to Marcheline engraved inside the chapel where we stood. I also wore a little flower ring that was hers, and Jamie (Angelina’s brother) wore an angel pin from her jewelry box” Angelina, 39, told People.
The pair stood on a special stone which had a tribute etched into it when they said their vows. Angelina went on to explain that her mother was her “best friend” and that “there are no words to express what an amazing woman and mother she was.”
Brad and Angelina’s wedding was a very intimate affair, with their children Maddox, 13, Pax, 10, Zahara, 9, Shiloh, 8, and twins Vivienne and Know, 6, choosing their own roles to play in the celebrations.
Brad and Angelina told Hello! “They picked their clothes and their duties. They all took it very seriously. Knox practiced carrying coins and acorns on his little pillow before he got the ring. They are our best friends and the people closest to us in our lives.”
Angelina’s dress even displayed special marks of her children, who made drawings on her custom-designed Atelier Versace gown. “I wanted the kids to be a part of everything including the dress, because that’s our family” Angelina explained. Only approximately 20 people attended the wedding, including Brad’s parents and siblings.
Angelina walked down to the aisle to the tune of her husband Brad humming the wedding march. “It’s a wonderful feeling to be married. The children are so happy” Brad and Angelina went on to say.
