The Spill: Wednesday's best entertainment and gossip news.

1. Former Bachelor star Brooke Blurton claims producers wanted her to be more “controversial”.

We’ve always suspected reality TV producers to be… pushy from time-to-time in order to dial up the drama, but Brooke Blurton just confirmed it happens much more than we think.

Especially when trying to frame a “villain” for the season.

The contestant from Nick Cummins’ season of The Bachelor told Who Magazine today that she felt pressured to play “the angry black girl” during filming.

But when she reacted calmly to certain situations, much to the dismay of producers, they’d become “aggressive” and attempt to manipulate a dramatic response out of her.

“Obviously, they’re making a TV show and you hear that quite often,” she told the publication.

“You’re basically characters in a show and you have to conform to be that character. If you don’t conform, they [producers] are quite aggressive with how they speak to you. I didn’t necessarily conform… and the manipulation is definitely there.”

She went on to say that she felt they wanted her to be the contestant that ruffled feathers, when she is placid by nature.

“I think they wanted me to be the angry black girl, but I was not that. I think they wanted me to step up and be controversial on camera in front of the girls which I don’t think is right. That’s not how I deal with confrontation. They stick you in these environments that are very testing and trying. You know, late nights, early mornings. It’s chaotic.”

2. Apparently Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth aren’t getting divorced any time soon.

The Miley and Liam emotional rollercoaster continues, and it’s possible we might be on this ride for a very long time.

While we’re still reeling from the news less than a week ago that the on-off couple split eight months on from their wedding, it’s now being reported that it could just be a break.

After Liam took to Instagram yesterday to wish Miley “nothing but health and happiness going forward," anonymous sources say there could be a glimmer of hope.

They told People, “They are having a break right now because they needed it. It was a bad situation with a lot of disagreements,” adding, “They both agreed it’s better to spend time apart, but this doesn’t mean their relationship is completely over. There is absolutely hope that they will get back together again.”

...We just don't know what to believe.

3. Oh. It turns out Harry Styles won't actually be in The Little Mermaid.

We're sorry, but we're about to be the bearer of bad news.

This morning, you may have noticed a lil' bit of a frenzy over on Twitter when it was 'confirmed' that Harry Styles would be playing Prince Eric in Disney's live-action remake of The Little Mermaid.

Just hours later, however, the claims were (unfortunately) debunked.

According to The Wrap, sources from the Disney production shared that while Styles is a "fan of the project", he "respectfully declined" a role in the film.

(We know, we're disappointed too.)

Earlier this year, Halle Bailey was cast as Ariel in the upcoming remake.

Melissa McCarthy, Jacob Tremblay and Awkwafina are said to be auditioning for Ursula, Flounder and Scuttle, while Javier Bardern is tipped to play Ariel's father, King Triton.

4. Excuse us, but we need to talk about the trailer for Little Women.

Whatever you're up to today, we can guarantee it's not as exciting as the new trailer for Little Women.

Overnight, we were blessed with a trailer for Oscar-nominated director Greta Gerwig's adaption of the classic 1994 film, based on the Little Women novel by Louisa May Alcott.

The film stars Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh and Eliza Scanlen as the March sisters, and Timothee Chalamet, Laura Dern and Meryl Streep as Laurie, Marmee and Aunt March. And the trailer looks epic.

Little Women tells the story of four intelligent sisters, Jo, Meg, Amy and Beth, trying to make their way in the world after the US Civil War of the 1860s. Each sister has a different personality and their own dreams, but because it's the 19th century, success for them looks like marrying into a good family and being a great wife, mother and homemaker.

Little Women will be released in Australia on January 1, 2020, and you can watch the full trailer below.

5. We're calling it. Survivor Australia 2019 is the best reality show on TV right now.

Ask me to pick the best reality TV show on Australian telly right now and I’ll tell you point blank. It’s Survivor.

Sure, The Bachelor is always a good time and the room reveals on The Block are ace. But in my humble TV-watching opinion, the 2019 season of Australian Survivor is the best one yet.
