Cher didn't want her son to get back with his ex wife. So she allegedly hired four men to kidnap him.

Cher has reportedly filed to place her son Elijah Blue Allman in a conservatorship.

According to documents obtained by PEOPLE, the singer, 77, is seeking to be the sole conservator of her son's estate, claiming that he is "unable to manage his financial resources".

The document states that Allman is due to receive assets from a trust before the end of the year, however, he "urgently" needs a conservator as he is "currently unable to manage his assets due to severe mental health and substance abuse issues".

The document also states that his estranged wife, musician Marie Angela King, is not fit to be his conservator because of their "tumultuous relationship".

The news of the conservatorship comes just months after the 'Believe' singer was accused of hiring a group of men to kidnap Allman in 2022.

According to divorce documents that surfaced earlier this year, Cher was reportedly worried about the health of her son with rock star Gregg Allman, while he was reportedly reconnecting with Marie Angela King.

King made the allegation in court documents she filed in December last year. The documents were uncovered in September, first by the Daily Mail, as part of her and Allman's ongoing divorce proceedings.

Allman, 47, filed for divorce from King, 36, in 2021 after eight years of marriage, but they allegedly spent 12 days together in November 2022.

"Given the proper time I believe that we will reconcile," King said in her declaration.

But their reconciliation attempt was interrupted, she claimed, when men entered their New York hotel room and took Allman away.

"On November 30, 2022, the night of our wedding anniversary, four people came to our hotel room and removed [Allman] from our room.

"I was told by one of the four men who took him that they were hired by [his] mother."

"Since August 2022, I have been told that I am not allowed to see or speak to [Allman] who is currently in lockdown at a treatment facility that is undisclosed to me. I am also told [Allman] has no access to his phone."

King also alleged that Cher asked her to leave the home she shared with Allman.

"I did so on the belief that my support payments would be timely, and I would be able to afford housing," she said, according to documents seen by Entertainment Tonight. "I was not allowed to retrieve all my belongings from our primary home and residence, nor was I given the opportunity to inventory our assets."

She claimed that she lost both housing and healthcare and had to leave the US to stay with relatives.

In October 2023, Cher told PEOPLE "that [kidnapping] rumour is not true" and declined to comment further.

Allman has always been open about his drug addiction, sharing that he began taking drugs when he was 11. In 2014 he detailed his heroin addiction, stating he had been sober since 2008.

Allman is one of Cher's two children — his older brother is Chaz Bono, whom Cher shared with her Sonny & Cher duo partner Sonny Bono.
