Ellen DeGeneres made a joke on her show. Now she's being sued for it.

Making jokes may be how comedian and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres makes her millions, but now it seems she may be set to lose a few after one woman took offence to a recent wise crack.

In a “what’s wrong with this situation”-type segment on her self-titled Ellen Show, DeGeneres shared an image of a real estate sign taken by a viewer.

Reading a note sent in by the viewer, DeGeneres told the audience, “My husband saw this sign and thought your viewers would enjoy the name of this realtor.”

The name in question? Titi Pierce.

Somewhat understandably, the image was met with much laughter from the studio audience. Because let's face it, we're all pretty immature when it comes down to it and if you can't laugh about boobs and bums, what can you laugh about?

After chuckling with the audience, DeGeneres then continued, "Ahhh Titi Pierce. Sounds like she might have spent some time in that nipple home, I dunno."

But 35-year-old realtor Pierce, isn't laughing.

In her lawsuit being brought against The Ellen Show's parent company, Warner Bros Entertainment, Pierce claims, "In all of her 35 years of life, no one has ever referred to Ms Pierce as ‘titty’ until the Defendant [DeGeneres] did so on February 22, 2016 on national television.”

Pierce's first name is pronounced "Tee Tee", and is a Nigerian name that means flower.

In addition to causing what Pierce feels is ridicule and emotional distress, the show failed to blur out Pierce's phone number. It appears that the number has since been blurred.

The realtor was then inundated with phone calls while she was attending a family funeral.

According to lawsuit documents, Pierce is seeking monetary damages and demanding that the show does not air the segment again on television or its social media channels.
