'My 18-year-old daughter was making thousands on OnlyFans. So I decided to join too.'

When Evie Leana learned that her then 18-year-old daughter Tiahnee was starting an OnlyFans, she was concerned.

She'd raised her family in a sex-positive household, full of support and love – but the unknowns worried her.

"I had all the normal concerns a parent would have," Evie tells Mamamia. "I actually said 'no' at first, but she responded by saying she was 18 now and could do what she wants."

When Tiahnee reassured her mum that she would only be posting bikini pics on the site, Evie relented.

And she quickly surprised about much money her daughter was making.

It made her wonder about the possibility of joining the platform herself.

"I sat on the decision to start [an OnlyFans] for two years," Evie explains to Mamamia. "I was also in a relationship and I think it was that [which] held me back from joining for so long."

Eventually, it was seeing her daughter's new lavish lifestyle, as well as all the fun she was having with makeup and shoots, that convinced her to give it a go herself.

Since joining the platform, Evie feels she is able to dedicate more time to her children and lead a life that is purely on her own terms.

"I just thought it was a great opportunity to not have to work a 9 to 5 and to spend more time with the kids and just to have more freedom," she says.

Of course, there's a stigma.

"OnlyFans creators tend to get a lot of judgement but no one sees the amount of work that goes into becoming a top creator," she says. "No one gets there by chance. There are many aspects to the platform. Being an influencer with a following obviously helps but behind the scenes, whether you’re an influencer or not, the work we put in is more than a full-time job."

Evie's career choice involves regularly posting on several social media platforms including OnlyFans, Twitter, Instagram, Reddit, TikTok and Clapper.

She schedules content and messages to go out to those who subscribe to her work and creates customised videos requested by fans.

"I want my page to be authentic and I want to offer real connections with my fans," Evie tells Mamamia. "I think the reason I have come so far is that everything you see on my platform is all authentically me and the part of the job that I love best is getting to know my fans and what they enjoy."

But it's not just her fans who are having a good time.

"It’s actually an extremely fun job and one that turns me on in life and makes every morning pleasurable as I sip my coffee and chat to fans so I’m not complaining!" she says. "I'm sharing this as a way to break the stigma that we as creators get paid for just posting nude photos. I wish.

"We work harder than your average person and get paid fairly for the amount of work we put in and for all the things we are willing to do to become successful in the industry."

Her daughter is enjoying herself too. "We honestly feel like we are having the best time of our lives," Evie says.

There's so much work to do that Evie, along with many other OnlyFans creators, hired an assistant in June to help with the load.

"I’m lucky to have an assistant now who lives in the UK as we work around the clock together," she explains. "I'm able to have some spare time, which is still minimal compared to most 9 to 5 workers and it’s taken me two years to get to this point."

"She makes it a lot easier," Evie continues. "When I first started, I did really well [in bringing in subscribers] which is common for a lot of creators and then it can sort of die down."

Through trial and error, enmeshing herself with some of the top creators in the world and learning from them, she was able to learn about all the other ways to keep people interested in her work.

Without sharing how much she's made overall, the model says her financial goals are met every single month.

And compared to when she first started, Evie's career looks a lot different.

"It's busier now because I know the work you have to put in, whereas before I was on one platform," she says. "... I didn't know about the technical side of [it] and I've just learned so much over time."

Her advice to other women who have ever considered a career in OnlyFans is to "set the boundaries" and "be prepared to work."

"They have got to think about their own moral compass and what feels right for them and what doesn't," she says. "Set the boundaries and just be prepared to put in the work."
