'I'm a bride looking to buy my wedding dress online. These are the 10 best brands I've come across.'

You know the girls who dream up their wedding day years, maybe decades, before getting engaged? The ones who have their Pinterest board ready, and their dress picked out?

I love those girls, but I was never one of them.

I've been with my partner (sorry, fiancé) for seven years now, and although, I'm beyond thrilled to be marrying him, we want our day to be more of a party than anything – a celebration with our closest friends and family, where we just happen to tie the knot.

For that reason, I've known from the minute we got engaged that I wouldn't be wearing a dress from a bridal boutique. Although I admire them, those ball gown-esque dresses just aren't me.

Instead, I'm looking at online retailers and checking the colour filter to 'white', scrolling through mini dresses, midi dresses and maxis – some that look distinctly bridal and others that don't.

Throughout my searches, I've come across a bunch of Australian and international designers making bridal dresses that you won't find in a boutique.

Here are my 10 favourites.

Rixo Bridal

UK brand Rixo London is known for their vintage-inspired prints and timeless silhouettes. Since launching in 2015, their dresses have been worn by celebrities and royals including Taylor Swift, Hailey Bieber and Kate Middleton.

Rixo was the first brand I came across IRL that had created a bridal collection, and I've been looking at their dresses online ever since.

Dissh

Much like everyone else, Dissh has become one of those brands I automatically go to when looking for new staple pieces. Whether that's a linen dress or a silk set, it almost always has what I'm looking for.

Their relatively new 'Aisle Edit' is much the same – including a satin suit to elope in, two pieces for the boho bride, and a backless dress with button detailing I can't get over.

Staud

When I got an email from Staud saying they had launched their bridal collection, I couldn't click open fast enough.

After looking at every photo of Staud founder Sarah Staudinger's 2022 wedding, I had decided she was officially the coolest woman on the planet and knew this collection would be the same.

The styles are perfect for a minimalist bride.

Rebecca Vallance

Rebecca Vallance is the place you want to look if you really want to stand out on your big day (you already will being the bride and all, but you get what I mean).

Their bridal collection includes a variety of dresses and sets featuring pearls, feathers, big sleeves and bows – perfect for the hen's party, wedding ceremony or reception.

Reformation

Another brand all the fashion and It girlies love. What started out as a small team selling vintage clothing out of an LA store in 2009 became a label that makes its own stuff with sustainability at the forefront.

Their bridal collection includes a variety of white dresses, in all lengths and fabrics. And they also make great bridesmaid options too.

Bec and Bridge

Bec and Bridge has been a trusted Australian brand for years now when it comes to formal and bridesmaid dresses (even Kendall Jenner wore one when being a bridesmaid in 2021).

Their bridal collection is just the same, featuring their most popular styles, just in white.

Shona Joy

Shona Joy recently launched their 'The Wedding Parlour' – it includes outfits for the bride, her bridesmaids and wedding guests.

Their silk pieces are feminine and elegant but are also cool when paired with accessories (did someone say cowboy hat?).

Net-A-Porter, Mytheresa and The Outnet

These three retailers are some of the best places to look when you're unsure about what type of bride you want to be.

Each of them include an array of international retailers – there really is something for everyone. Plus, The Outnet includes all the big designer's old stock at discounted prices.

I highly recommend starting here at the beginning of your journey. Grab a wine, click on white dresses and enjoy scrolling.
